Role Description

The Manufacturing Engineer will act as the lead engineer for plant capacity projects, including a critical capital project to increase the Chicago plant capacity in the first 12-18 months of the role.

Ongoing, the role will work to optimize the production of our high-quality chicken sausage manufacturing facilities and will be responsible for designing and improving manufacturing processes, ensuring equipment reliability, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and efficiency.

This role does require the selected candidate to work primarily onsite at our location located at 1400 W 44th Street, Chicago, IL 60609.

Areas of Responsibilities

  • Act as lead engineer for manufacturing plant capacity expansion projects.
  • Design, implement, and review procedures to increase production speed and reduce waste without compromising food quality.
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of specialized machinery such as meat grinders, industrial mixers, and stuffers.
  • Ensure all production steps comply with USDA guidelines, HACCP protocols, and internal GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
  • Plan and optimize factory floor layouts to improve workflow, accommodate new equipment, and minimize bottlenecks.
  • Design and implement automation initiatives that create value, improve productivity and reduce labor cost
  • Gather and analyze production data to generate reports, including yield logs, batch tests, and labor efficiency.
  • Manage 3rd party vendors and budgets for new engineering projects.
  • Partner on lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives with operational leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ year of manufacturing or production engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or Food Engineering.
  • Experience in a meat protein food processing in a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD/SolidWorks) and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Ability to work in rigorous environments, including cold storage/freezers and wet processing areas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of HACCP certification or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or related disciplines is highly preferred.

Compensation

$110,000 - $150,000
