Your Mission: We are looking for someone to join our product team to support product development and optimization projects. Your role is critical in supporting product managers across both dry (pasta and mac) and frozen (pizza and waffles) portfolios. You’ll be an integral part of our onsite team, supporting hands-on benchtop development work, sensory testing, data collection and benchtop reporting as well as coordinating shipment of ingredients and samples - all with a focus on speed, precision and creativity. In our fast-paced start-up environment, we are in need of a highly organized and motivated team member to help Banza continue to optimize our current portfolio as well as create new products.

What You’ll Do

  • Support product managers with R&D initiatives by coordinating administrative details and assisting with benchtop testing for new product launches and optimization projects
  • Prepare and organize prototypes for internal and external tastings, sensory evaluations and consumer feedback sessions
  • Execute experimental designs, record data and help maintain robust documentation of trials
  • Coordinate sample/ingredient shipments and storage organization, including managing sample requests
  • Submit samples for lab testing (analytical/sensory)
  • Maintain and update R&D databases, spreadsheets and reports to assist in decision-making and traceability
  • Assist product managers with updating product specifications as needed
  • Balance workstreams across two portfolios with a high level of organization and communication
  • Partner with Procurement and Quality teams to support pilot and scale-up trials
  • Other duties as assigned

Who You Are:

  • 1-2 years of professional experience in CPG product development
  • Bachelor in Food Science preferred
  • Curious & Detail-Oriented: Able to follow project plans precisely and strives for perfection in each prototype created
  • Flexible & Collaborative: You thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities. You’re comfortable supporting multiple projects and managers, and you know how to communicate clearly.
  • Self-Starter: You take initiative, stay organized, and keep things moving even without constant direction.
  • Organized: Managing information/data and inventory
  • Confident, passionate, and demonstrates high commitment
  • Proficient in MS Office and Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Genesis Software
  • Ability to travel up to 10%+
  • Ability to drive required (car not required), particularly for off-site visits
  • Ability to go into our Midtown office 4-5x per week
  • Ability to regularly work in a test kitchen environment

Compensation

Our salary ranges are based on verified market data and our philosophy of paying competitively for our size and industry. Individual pay rate decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors. The salary band for this role is $60,000-$80,000. The range is for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however, we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated to you as a candidate.
